Apple should have its foldable iPad and foldable iPhone hitting the markets in late 2026, with some new specs revealed teasing the monster-big 18.8-inch foldable iPad that the company is reportedly working on.

In a new report from GF Securities Hong Kong analyst Jeff Pu picked up by insider @Jukanrosleve on X, we're looking at some of the final specs of Apple's purported foldable iPad and iPhone. Apple is reportedly gearing up with a large 18.8-inch foldable display supplied by LG Display for its foldable iPad, with an SZS hinge and on-cell touch technology.
Apple is looking at a 2 to 3-month product life cycle on the foldable iPad, with mass production reportedly penciled in for Q4 2026 with Foxconn manufacturing the foldable iPad and iPhone. As for the foldable iPhone, the purported iPhone Ultra will feature a 7.74-inch foldable display with an Amphenol and SZS hinge, with the same on-cell touch technology but a far longer product life cycle of between 16 and 18 months.
Apple has reportedly been waiting to release a foldable iPhone until it would feature that Apple-class crease-free experience one would expect from Apple and a foldable iPhone.

We heard back in March 2025 that Apple would be using a metallic glass (amorphous metal) for the hinge mechanism inside of the foldable iPhone, as well as insider Ming-Chi Kuo saying Apple would use a type of "liquid metal" which is a common marketing term for the same thing... goes hand-in-hand with the new liquid look-and-feel of iOS 26 that was recently heavily marketed.
The short product life cycle on the foldable iPad looks strange, where only a few months until it is replaced with another foldable iPad (possibly better, smaller, new A-series chip inside) in 2027. The foldable iPhone not being replaced for 18 months makes more sense, as it'll sit between product releases where we should expect new foldable iPhones every 18-24 months.
The crease-free display is going to be the big winner here if Apple (and Samsung + LG Display) can pull it off, as it'll stand above the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and upcoming triple-fold Galaxy G Fold, which will have (slight) creases in the display, something Apple's marketing can target when (finally) turning up to the foldable smartphone business.
Huawei has its old foldable smartphones on the market already, as well as some laptop manufacturers that are now rolling out foldable displays (and roll-up displays) on new laptops. Some of which were seen at Computex 2025, so the world of foldable displays will go to the next (incredible, revolutionary) level when Apple launches its new foldable iPad and iPhone to the market in 2026.
