New Microsoft Ad Angers Mac Fans
Well, well, well. It would seem that a new round of Microsoft ads have the gang over at Apple a little miffed. The new ads show a woman looking for a computer at an Apple store but, she is unable to find anything inside her budget. She then heads over to a local retailer to find many for around a $1000.
This ad, depicting Apples as over-priced for the hardware, has caused frenzy with the on-line and print press. For some reason many are actually defending Apple's prices.
Some great defense lines are:

GTX 275 to launch on April 2nd
In what can only be called a blocking move nVidia has decided to push up the launch of the GTX 275. This move is designed to get consumers to wait and not buy the Radeon HD4890 from ATi.
The problem is, there are simply no GTX 275s yet. They have not even been sampled out to the press. This marks a complete paper launch just to knock the hype out of the ATi/AMD launch taking place at the same time.
I am not sure how successful this will be. With performance numbers available for the HD4890 and none for the GTX 275; some consumers may break out their wallets now rather than wait.

Skype for iPhone is finally here
Skype will finally be coming to the iPhone. According to a news release the new App will be available from the App Store on the 31st of March.
This will add to the other Instant Messaging applications but will also bring VoIP to the iPhone as well.
According to CNET the new app will not have the same look as the desktop versions but will still maintain the Skype feel. Unfortunately the main point of Skype, VoIP calls, will only work over WiFi and not the cellular network. Chatting will still function over the Edge or 3G network though.

Everyone loves to see technology take some abuse from time to time, especially when in the end nobody ends up getting hurt.

Dell Confirms MID Or Smartphone In Development
While the rumors have been floating around for months that Dell has been working on some sort of smartphone or mobile internet device, CEO Michael Dell has finally let the cat out of the bag at least giving us confirmation that the rumors are true.
Dell said, "It is true that we are exploring smaller-screen devices. We don't have any announcements to share today, but stay tuned as when we have new news we will share that with you." The problem seems to be that all the prototypes they have had so far have had a "lack of differentiation" with "current and upcomming products."

Looks like there is another virus out for Mac OSX, well a revamp of an older one is more accurate.
According to Sophos, the OSX/RSplug-F Trojan horse virus for Mac has been given an overhaul.

Search Engines used to spread malware
There is more security information for you today, this time in the form of a warning against bad typists and Google.
According to a report by Finjan cyber criminals are using Google as a means to get into your wallet. They way they do this is by checking Google search trends and then use search engine optimization to cover common misspellings of the various key words.
What happens next is that these sites are indexed by search engines and when someone misspells a word these sites show up as legitimate sites. The search engine optimizations allow for these fraudulent pages to be indexed higher in the search results. When an unsuspecting user clicks on the link it redirects the user to a page that then attempts to down load malware. This makes the click though page a large amount of money too. Even at 9.6 cents per click.

Asus passes Apple as most reliable Computer maker
In an interesting twist Asus, a company that has had a few technical support and reliability issues in the past has surpassed Apple in the early days of 2009 as the most reliable computer manufacturer.
This is according to a study done by RESCUECOM, they compare technical support calls against the number of systems shipped.
RESCECOM noted that Asus had a very high score of 972, this is more than likely due to the mass of EEEPCs shipped in the early parts of this year. The score may settle out as the year progresses and we may again see a change of leadership.

Foxconn Retail Channel to close in June?
Fudzilla has the rumor mill going again about the Foxconn Channel division. According to their sources Foxconn will officially close out its Channel (retail) division in June.
With June as the date of close it means that more than likely the staff has already been given notice of release and they are in the process of shutting out the lights and leaving the building.
Foxconn had started to build up a nice following with their Enthusiast based boards like the Block Ops and Blood Rage but was never really able to keep the momentum going. This closing is a sad affair for the lost jobs and the loss of a competitor to help drive innovation and prices.
