AMD's new entry-level Radeon RX 9060 limits overclocking to just 10 MHz

It looks like AMD's new entry-level RDNA 4 GPU, the Radeon RX 9060, won't support overclocking with OC tweaking limited to just 10 MHz.

TL;DR: AMD has launched the Radeon RX 9060, an entry-level RDNA 4 GPU featuring 28 Compute Units, 8GB GDDR6, and an efficient 132W power rating. It offers solid 1080p gaming performance with AI-powered FSR 4 support but lacks meaningful overclocking potential, targeting budget prebuilt systems.

With driver support and the official product page now live, AMD's new entry-level RDNA 4 GPU, the Radeon RX 9060, has launched. Although we don't have pricing and availability, it is expected that this new GPU will mostly be limited to budget prebuilt systems.

The Radeon RX 9060 non-XT features 28 Compute Units, down from 32 in the Radeon RX 9060 XT, with 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus with a memory bandwidth speed of up to 288 GB/sec. It's also the most efficient GPU in the company's RDNA 4 line-up with a power rating of 132W, a similar power draw to NVIDIA's entry-level GeForce RTX 5050.

However, as highlighted by the product page for the custom 2.5-slot ASUS Dual Radeon RX 9060 model, it seems that the Radeon RX 9060's OC capabilities are essentially non-existent. All that's on offer is a paltry 10 MHz (first spotted by VideoCardz), which won't make any noticeable difference to gaming performance.

Per the specs for ASUS's Dual model, the OC mode only pushes the default Boost Clock speed from 2990 MHz up to 3000 MHz. This is in stark contrast to the entry-level GeForce RTX 5050, which can be overclocked from 2572 MHz to well over 3000 MHz for a double-digit performance increase in some games. A 10 MHz limit to boosting clock speeds effectively means that the Radeon RX 9060 doesn't support overclocking.

Outside of specs, AMD has also posted native 1080p performance data for PC gaming with the Radeon RX 9060 using 'Ultra' quality settings. Assassin's Creed Mirage hits 108 FPS, while Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 hits 98 FPS, and DOOM Eternal with ray-tracing hits 153 FPS. However, this makes it slower than the Radeon RX 9060 XT; the performance is still decent for an entry-level GPU, primarily as it also supports AMD's new AI-powered FSR 4 Super Resolution technology.
