Wolfenstein 3 is still a dream project for MachineGames, the modern stewards of the franchise, but the studio still won't announce any concrete details.

Bethesda has seen success with its modern reinvigoration of the classic Wolfenstein franchise, with the series having expanded across two mainline games, standalone DLC, and the experimental co-op spin-off Youngblood. Since 2019, though, the series has been on ice while MachineGames worked on their big-budget Indiana Jones and the Great Circle game.
Now that Indy's mainline adventure is wrapped up, it seems like a good time for MachineGames to tackle Wolfenstein 3. The group just recently expanded, opening another studio in Sweden that's just hours away from HQ. So what's next? Wolfenstein 3? More Indiana Jones? Studio leadership continues to tease a third BJ Blazkowicz adventure but won't make a commitment just yet.
In a new interview with GamesIndustry.biz, MachineGames studio director Jerk Gustafson says that the group "isn't done" with Wolfenstein:
"our intention has always been to go back to Wolfenstein. We wanted to finish the trilogy. And when we do that, that is something that I don't want to comment on. It can be now, it can be later, but we're not done with it. That's what I can say."
This isn't the first time that MachineGames or even Bethesda have commented on a third Wolfenstein game.
Way back in 2018, then-Bethesda exec Pete Hines said that Wolfenstein 3 would happen.
In July 2025, Amazon ordered a Wolfenstein TV show adaptation.
Then MachineGames teased Wolfenstein 3 in September 2025, where Gustafson said that he "hopes" the studio isn't done with the series yet.
Just last month, it was reported that Wolfenstein 3 is in active development at MachineGames. If this is the case, it's possible that the studio will announce or reveal something at this year's QuakeCon 2026 event, which happens to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the event. Although these are id-adjacent, there's a lot of overlap between the two franchises insofar as fanbase.
