Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced will officially support PlayStation 5 Pro's upgraded PSSR technology, delivering enhanced visuals and performance on the next-gen console.

Ubisoft confirmed the news in a recent statement, with director Richard Knight revealing the team is "definitely" aiming to implement the feature. Knight, in an interview with WCCF Tech, stated that the studio is working to optimize the game for the PS5 Pro's new upscaling tech, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) 2.
The team's own PS5 Pro ownership and testing have driven their commitment to pushing the platform's capabilities. Players can expect higher fidelity and visual improvements, though exact details weren't provided during the interview. This move positions Black Flag Resynced as a showcase of what can be achieved with the PS5 Pro's hardware, and Ubisoft's efforts to bring the classic Assassin's Creed game up to modern gaming standards.
Will there be a PlayStation 5 Pro enhanced version?
Richard Knight: For sure, we support the PlayStation 5 Pro. I own a PS5 Pro myself, so we definitely want to support features like PSSR2. You will also get all the other performance and detail benefits that come with the PS5 Pro.

The game is part of what could be a new strategy for Ubisoft: remaster and re-release classic titles with modern enhancements, enabling the company to capitalize on nostalgia and power it with next-gen hardware. With a July 9, 2026, release date confirmed for both consoles and PC, fans can look forward to a visually reimagined pirate adventure at a time when there is quite a lot of demand for pirate games.
The PS5 Pro version will certainly be a highlight if performance and visuals can be balanced, but the same goes PC and standard PS5 versions, which are also expected to receive performance and graphical upgrades. As the launch nears, more details on specific modes and features are expected to surface, along with what players can expect to experience in-game on specific platforms.
