PC classic Myst returns with mysterious new Project Mudfish 1

If you grew up in the 90s, you probably remember Myst, the enigmatic puzzle game that blended novel 3D visuals with classic PC gaming. After decades in between new releases outside of remakes, the creators of Myst have announced a new project.

"We are currently in development of a new game, codenamed Mudfish, set inside the Myst Universe," Cyan Worlds said on their website.

"This game is currently planned to contain denser, more intricate game spaces than ever before, with new ways of exploring and uncovering information. We are currently in very early development stages of this game and will share more news on this later."

The team also gave a look at a cancelled prototype called Anglerfish. To be clear, the new game that we mentioned above is a separate project called Mudfish, and the video footage is for the cancelled game only.

Cyan published a 3-minute trailer showing off Anglerfish in action, revealing a captivating mansion-style island complex that positively oozes with secrets. Gameplay concepts seem interesting, allowing players to time travel by touching a book at the behest of a crazed scientist antagonist. The team was disappointed the project didn't get funded but is nonetheless proud of what they put together with Anglerfish.
