Noctua fans are highly sought after among serious PC builders and enthusiasts because they offer excellent cooling with a focus on whisper-quiet performance. This week, the company announced its highly anticipated next-generation flagship 120mm fan - the new Noctua NF-A12x25 G2.

Noctua notes that the new design improves performance over its predecessor to deliver a "significant boost in performance-to-noise efficiency," making it perfect for water cooling radiators, heatsinks, and case fans.

As a second-generation fan and the successor to Noctua's most popular products, it's made from the same Sterrox LCP material. The design features a "tight tip-clearance of only 0.5mm." The revamped fan and blade design includes new technology to increase airflow and performance called Flow Acceleration Channels and the Centrifugal Turbulator Hub.

Fancy names, for sure, but as the first chart above shows, the new Noctua NF-A12x25 G2 outperforms its predecessor, the Noctua NF-A12x25, regarding static air pressure. The second chart shows that the cooling performance of the Noctua NF-A12x25 G2 is also improved by 3.5 degrees Celsius on a water cooling radiator at a heat load of 200W.

"The first-generation NF-A12x25 set a new benchmark for 120mm fans and has become one of the most successful Noctua fans of all time, so we're excited to be able to offer another significant performance boost over this renowned model," says Roland Mossig, Noctua CEO. "Using the same motor and aerodynamic design approach as the 14cm G2 model, the new NF-A12x25 G2 has been further refined in virtually all respects, which enables it to further push the envelope in terms of performance-to-noise efficiency."

The new Noctua NF-A12x25 G2 is available in standard PWM form with a maximum speed of 1800RPM and ultra-quiet LS-PWM with a maximum speed of 1100RPM - priced at $34.90 USD. For more details on the fan's specs and cooling potential, check out Noctua's official announcement post here.
