Acer is introducing a new PC gaming handheld at Computex 2026, sporting a large 8-inch WUXGA (16:10 resolution, 1920 x 1200 pixels) display with 500-nit peak brightness and VRR support for smooth visuals. However, that's not the big thing here, as the new Predator Atlas 8 handheld from Acer is powered by the Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor, which features integrated Intel Arc B390 graphics.

Utilizing the latest Arc Graphics architecture with 12 Xe3 Cores built on the 3nm Intel 18A process node, codename Panther Lake, this integrated GPU recently debuted in laptops, where its competitive performance, real-time ray tracing, and AI-powered XeSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation technologies deliver smooth 60-100 FPS in games like Cyberpunk 2077 and the new Forza Horizon 6. Based on several reviews, it's comparable to a discrete GeForce RTX 4050 laptop GPU, making it an impressive addition to the handheld scene and the new Predator Atlas 8.

In addition to gaming performance, the Predator Atlas 8 and Intel Arc G-Series Processors are also optimized for efficiency. When it comes to the Predator Atlas 8, the up to 80 Wh battery works alongside Intel Endurance gaming to balance frame rate and power draw for longer sessions when you're not plugged in.

As for the physical design, it draws inspiration from Acer's Predator laptop portfolio, featuring a custom dual-fan cooling solution that includes a "precision metal Predator AeroBlade fan" with 89 blades and a thickness of only 0.1mm, delivering a reported 10% increase in airflow compared to similar handheld devices. Everything about the Atlas 8 is premium, from the DTS:X Ultra audio delivered via dual 2-watt speakers with dual microphones powered by Acer PurifiedVoice, which provides AI-assisted noise reduction for seamless chat, to the dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, Wi-Fi 7, UHS-II microSD support, and Bluetooth 5.4.

As a Windows 11-based gaming handheld, Acer notes that all Atlas 8 purchases will ship with an XBOX Game Pass subscription that offers access to hundreds of games, including the vast library of first-party games from various XBOX studios. The handheld will also ship with Acer's bespoke PredatorSense app for system monitoring, customization, optimization, and experimenting with various RGB settings.

In addition to the flagship model, there's also an Intel Arc G3 processor variant with integrated Intel Arc B370 graphics coming. The launch is expected sometime in October 2026 across North America, EMEA, and Australia, with pricing TBC. Unfortunately, with the current memory and storage situation driving prices up everywhere, and the flagship model sporting 24GB of LPDDR5x (7467 MT/s) memory and up to 1TB of NVMe M.2 SSD storage, this could be the factor that impacts the overall appeal of the Atlas 8. With Valve recently raising the price of its flagship Steam Deck OLED 1TB model by $300 USD, here's hoping the Atlas 8 falls within reach of PC gamers looking for a powerful handheld, as it looks and sounds impressive.
